  • Report Writing - practice paper 2

    1.      Introduction

    Recently, we have received some complaints from the students regarding the services of the school canteen. With reference to your request for a report about it, two surveys were conducted and some recommendations are made for your consideration.

     

    2.      Findings

    Two surveys, in form of 2 sections: questionnaire and interview, were conducted in February and March respectively with the students to gather their opinions on the service of the canteen. 700 questionnaires were sent out, of which 600 were returned while 50 students were interviewed. The major findings are listed below.

     

    2.1  Feedback from the students

    2.1.1       Half of the respondents (50%) reported that they were studying Business Services and Management while the other half (50%) were studying Information and Communication Technology.

    2.1.2       Around two-third of them (68%) was at Year 1 while the rest of them (32%) were at Year 2.

     

    2.2  Problems mentioned in questionnaire

    2.2.1       Slightly more than two-third of them (70%) expressed that there were not enough food choices because no nutritious food and no vegetarian menu were provided.

    2.2.2       Nearly half of them (55%) criticized that the tables and chairs were insufficient.

    2.2.3       Slightly less than a half of them (48%) believed that the service was poor since long lines for food order were always found.

     

    2.3  Problems mentioned in interview

    2.3.1       It is reported that the lunch time was too crowded.

    2.3.2       Rubbish was thrown everywhere.

    2.2  Problems found

    2.2.1        One fifth of the respondents (20%) felt that the beach chairs were rusty.

    2.2.2        Around one tenth of them (13%) believed that there was no kiosk.

    2.2.3        A minority of them (5%) criticized that life guards were always not around.

    2.2.4        More than a half of them (62%) thought that the leisure pools were insufficient.

    1.      Introduction

    Recently, we have discovered that there have been some complaints about the management of the swimming pool. With reference to your request for a report about the service quality, a survey was conducted in August 2007 and some recommendations are made for your consideration.

     

    2.      Findings

    A survey was conducted in August 2007 with the citizens to gather their opinions on the management of the public swimming pools. 1000 questionnaires were sent out, of which 880 were returned. The information collected is listed below.

     

    2.1  Feedback of the respondents

    2.1.1        Around three quarters of them (74%) reported that they went swimming once in a week between May and September in some of the public swimming pools. Slightly less than one quarter of them (23%) went there 2 to 6 times while the rest of them (3%) almost went there every day.

    2.1.2        A majority of them (94%) found that the admission fees were reasonable while the rest of them (6%) didn’t think so.

    2.1.3        Slightly less than a half of them (42%) was most content with the hygienic standard in the changing room while the rest of them (58%) was satisfied with the pool deck area.
